Leak Detection and Repair
Method 21 Inspections with TVA-2020
At Golden Valley Environmental, we perform LDAR inspections using Thermo TVA-2020 instruments in full compliance with EPA Method 21. Our trained technicians survey all required components—valves, connectors, pumps, flanges, compressors, and more—to detect fugitive VOC and methane emissions. Each inspection is conducted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate readings and proper component tagging for ongoing tracking.
We don’t just check boxes—we help you build a defensible compliance record. Our inspections are aligned with SJVAPCD Rule 4409 / 4623, CARB regulations, and other applicable standards, giving you peace of mind during regulatory audits and site visits.
Comprehensive Repair Solutions
Following every LDAR inspection, we deliver clear, regulator-ready reports that include all required documentation: component-level leak logs, repair deadlines, and follow-up verification records. We make sure all leaks are tracked from discovery to repair, and we flag any repeat issues or high-risk areas to help you build a stronger leak management program.
Need support fixing leaks or addressing trends? We work alongside your field team or maintenance contractors to make sure repairs are handled quickly—and in a way that holds up to regulatory scrutiny.

Leading the Way in Regulatory Excellence
Proactive Compliance, Not Reactive Fixes
At GVE, we believe the best way to stay in compliance is to never fall out of it. That’s why we take a proactive approach—identifying potential issues before they become violations. Through routine audits, real-time reporting, and ongoing regulatory updates, we help our clients build systems that prevent problems, not just solve them. It’s how we’ve helped operators avoid fines, delays, and costly downtime across hundreds of sites.
Trusted by Regulators and Operators Alike
We don’t just work for our clients—we work with the regulators. Our team has built strong working relationships with agencies like CalGEM, SJVAPCD, and CARB, which allows us to navigate complex requirements and communicate effectively on behalf of your operation. When we submit a report or show up for an audit, regulators know it’s been done right—and that trust creates smoother inspections and better outcomes.
Customized Strategies for Every Site
No two oilfields—or regulatory footprints—are the same. That’s why we don’t offer cookie-cutter solutions. We develop tailored compliance strategies based on your site’s equipment, location, permit conditions, and production goals. From permitting and LDAR to sensitive receptor mapping and HMBPs, every service is adapted to fit your operation with precision and efficiency.

How often do I need an LDAR inspection?
It depends on your permit conditions and regulatory body. Most facilities under SJVAPCD Rule 4409 or CARB require quarterly or annual inspections, but some sites may need more frequent checks based on equipment type or past violations. We can review your requirements and set up a custom schedule.
What’s the difference between LDAR and OGI?
LDAR using Method 21 involves detecting leaks with a TVA instrument by physically scanning each component. Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) uses infrared cameras (like FLIR) to visualize gas leaks from a distance. Both methods are valuable, and we often use them together for a more complete picture of emissions.
What happens if you find a leak?
If a leak is detected above the regulatory threshold, we document it, notify your team immediately, and include it in the official report. Repairs must typically be made within 2–7 days depending on the rule, and we’ll work with you to ensure follow-up inspections are completed to verify repairs.
Can GVE help if I’ve already received a violation?
Yes. We’ve helped many operators respond to Notices of Violation (NOVs) and bring their sites back into compliance. We can review the citation, gather documentation, communicate with the regulatory agency, and help develop a corrective action plan to minimize penalties and future risk.
